Short version: nothing you type here leaves your browser, and there is no account to make.
Who operates this site
NumberQuill is operated by Inyonitech Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. You can reach us at hello@numberquill.com, which is also how to reach the company's Information Officer. We do not publish a street address here; if a regulator needs one, write to the mailbox and it will be provided.
What we collect
Nothing you type. Every conversion on this site is worked out by code running in your own browser. The numbers, words, amounts and numerals you enter are never transmitted to us or to anybody else, are never logged, and are never stored on a server. There is no account, no sign-up, no newsletter and no form on this site that submits anywhere.
The Listen button beside an answer reads it aloud with a voice built into your device. It uses only voices that run on the device itself, so the words are not sent anywhere to be spoken. Some browsers also offer voices that work over the internet; this site does not use them, and where a device has no voice of its own the button does not appear.
What is stored on your device
A few preferences are kept in your browser's local storage so the site opens the way you left it. They never leave your device, we never see them, and none of them identifies you.

The site works with storage blocked entirely — you simply get the defaults each time. The cookies and storage page explains how to clear these.
Hosting
The pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the ordinary information a browser sends in order to deliver a page — your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string — and uses it to serve the site and to defend it against attack. We do not keep our own server logs.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless: it stores no identifier on your device and does not follow you between sites. It reports which page was viewed, roughly where in the world the request came from, which site referred you, which browser you used and how quickly the page loaded. What we see is counts. We never see a person, and we could not identify you from it if we wanted to.
Advertising
There is no advertising on this site at the moment and no advertising script is loaded. NumberQuill is intended to be funded by Google AdSense. When that is switched on, this page and the cookies page will say so first, and will describe how Google asks visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland for their consent.
If you write to hello@numberquill.com, we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange, and for no longer than 24 months. We do not add you to any list, and there is no list to add you to.
Mail to that address is received by Cloudflare's email routing, which passes it on to the mailbox we read it in. Both are run by providers who may process it outside South Africa. We keep your message because you wrote to us and asked for an answer, and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping a record of what was said.
Children
NumberQuill is a general reference tool, written for adults, including the parents and teachers who help with schoolwork. It is not directed at children, and it never asks anyone their age, their name or anything else about them. Some of what is here, such as place value, expanded form and ordinals, is school material, and children may well use it. No page on the site loads an advertising script.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. In practice the answer is almost always that we hold nothing, because the only personal information that can reach us is an email you chose to send. Write to hello@numberquill.com and we will answer.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, to the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom, or to your own national data protection authority in the European Union.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make changes quietly.
