R100.00 in words

An amount is written out in full next to the figures so that the two check each other. If the digits are altered, the words no longer match.

With no cents, the amount is usually written as one hundred rand — some forms add “and no cents” or a dash to close the line, which serves the same purpose as “only”.

South African rand. Rand does not take a plural: fifteen hundred rand, never rands. South African banks stopped offering cheques at the end of 2020, so an amount in rand here is for a contract, an offer to purchase, an invoice or schoolwork, not a cheque.
